The Review on Big Data Sharding and Replication
Abstract
Abstract
Sharding is a partitioning pattern that places each partition in potentially separate servers; potentially all over the world. A shard is managed by a single server. Data replication is the process of storing data in more than one site or node. It is useful in improving the availability of data. It is simply copying data from a database from one server to another server so that all the users can share the same data without any inconsistency. In this survey we briefly describe the evolution of sharding and replication techniques from the year 2018 to the recent times.
Keywords: Sharding, replication, master-slave replication, peer-to-peer replication
