Social Emotion Prediction: A Review of Sentiment Analysis Techniques Used in Social Networks

Abstract


Social media has become the most substantial resource of information due to its rapid growth from last one and half decade. Web users share their ideas, thoughts, experiences, and opinions about different entities and events through social networks, blogging platforms, forums, and reviews. Social media tends to attract more and more researchers to analyze this tremendous amount of unstructured data for creating new insights. This data is used for sentiment and emotional analysis. Affective computing deals with the emotional analysis and is used by different people (Biomedical Researchers, Financial Professionals, and Intelligent analysts) and organizations (Government, Companies). This paper presents the review of different techniques and approaches that are used in sentiment analysis, challenges faced by the researchers and the evaluation scheme that is used to evaluate the performance of these techniques.
