Abstract

Abstract

Detection of cracks is an essential parameter in structure life and will provide preventing structural failure. Sometimes, in large structure it is become difficult to find cracks by a visual check. The roof is one of the building elements which is subjected to maximum temperature differences like cold weathering, hot weathering etc. Therefore, roof is subjected to expansion and contraction during day and night or from season to season and causes defection like pulling and pushing to the supporting load bearing walls. If these cracks were serious then it has been experienced in the masonry walls supporting the slab. The raw materials used for the manufacture of cement consist mainly of lime, silica, alumina and iron oxide. These oxides interact with one another in the kin at high temperature to form more complex compounds. These compounds give hydration of cement, which causes cracks in concrete.  In the early hours after concrete setting, so because of hot weather we need to use cold water for concrete mix to reduce the effect of heat of hydration in developing plastic cracks developed in concrete mass. This paper presents crack detection and classification methods for concrete surface, steel slabs, metal, subway tunnel, etc.

Keyword: Steel slabs, metal, subway tunnel, concrete crack, kin.
