Abstract

Android operating system at the moment is world’s most popular operating system and is designed from ground up for energy constrained devices such as smart phones. However, Android is also being adopted in real-time environments such as automobiles, drone controllers and medical devices. In this study, we present the design decisions of Android that make it difficult to be used in real-time scenarios and possible workarounds that can be implemented in the operating system to be used in real-time environment.
