Implementing LEACH

Abhilash Shokeen, Saurabh Allawadhi

Abstract

A wireless sensor network is the network that consists of multiple sensor nodes which helps in monitoring which makes it to be used in vast number of areas. Sensor networks are used where large number of times and periodic updating is required. So, the main problem is to handle the collection and storing of huge amounts of data. The LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) protocol provides a solution to this problem where nodes are grouped together to form clusters and data are fetched from these clusters. In this paper, we implemented LEACH, proposed an algorithm which is modified version of conventional LEACH by using MATLAB. Statistical instruments used are network lifetime, number of dead nodes, number of alive nodes and effect of selective forwarding attack.
