Abstract

Linux is a Unix-like open-source operating system characterized by its distinctive Linux kernel. Linux shell is a command interpreter that supports the user to execute commands and utilities in both Linux and Unix-based operating systems. This paper represents the working of different Linux shells along with relevantly stating the efficiency provided by those shells and received by the users. Along with their contrasting feasibility and performance. Also, with the availability of a variety of different types of users, preferred shell types along with their functionality has also been listed. Conclusively, this paper also discusses whether having a shell is needed in Linux.
