Abstract

This paper is aiming to overcome this problem by using RFID-ARDUINO approach in web-based laboratories attendance system. An Arduino Uno microcontroller board will be used as the hardware platform. The key aim of this project is to automatically record the presence of the staffs, using active RFID tags. Each staff is provided with his/her authorized RFID tag. The serial number of each tag is related with each staff’s database. The active RFID readers are the ability to detect the tags within a predefined perimeter. The system is incorporated with a GSM module which is used to send reports of the absent staffs to their parents and by this, the parents are aware of the activities of their wards. Visual Basic scripting is using to integrate between hardware and SQL database. In the testing, using the technology of Web-based Laboratory Attendance System ( LAS) is successfully facilitated the staffs’ attendance and laboratory management on the evaluation of staff’s performance for a particular experiment.
