Abstract: The objective of this paper is to review the state-of-the-art of Vernier TDC techniques to achieve high resolution. Modern VLSI technology is mainly driven by digital circuits because a digital circuit has many advantages over analog circuits. To achieving the high-resolution in time-to-digital converter (TDC) is one of the crucial points, it is becoming more suitable for many time-of-flight (TOF) applications because it measures the time difference between two pulses and gives time difference as a digital output code. The Vernier ring TDC place the Vernier delay cells in a ring format and reuses them for the measurement of the input time interval. This Vernier TDC technique will give high resolution than conventional TDC models.
