The aim of this paper is to explain the concept, need and applications of the language C#. This language is the first component oriented language in the family of C/C. It was designed for common language runtime. This language is derived from java and C++. In other words we can say that it lies somewhere between C++ and java. This language was developed because of the need of compilation of the syntax and power of the C++ with the productivity of languages like visual basic and java. Some of the main distinguishing features of C# from other language are simple, modern, object oriented, type safe, interoperability, scalability, updatability etc. these features will be explained and discussed in this paper.
