Evaluation of Different Movement Models and Routing Protocols in VANET

Chander Diwaker, Shikha Saini

Abstract

Understanding the mobility characteristics is important for designing and analyzing of routing schemes for VANET (Vehicular ad hoc Network). It’s also important for the VANET, where node movement is used for message transmission. Movement is an important task in VANET due to the uncertain mobility and intermittent behavior of the nodes. Most of the research work in VANETs has been done in the area of routing and forwarding. In this paper movement models used in the VANET are classified into following categories: random way point movement model, cluster based, map based, and shortest path based movement model. Comparative analysis of these movement models is presented in this paper.
