A Study on Technologies Replacing PC

Deepthy pauly, Sanam E. Anto

Abstract

Personal computers are also known as PCs. It is a general purpose computer whose functions and features make it useful for the individuals. Nowadays dependence on computer is increasing and most of the people use PCs for their everyday work. The problem arises while using PCs which are not portable, require large space and great deal of electricity. To overcome these disadvantages, different technologies have been used. This paper presents two new concepts which can replace our personal computer. These two technologies have all the features and elements like normal computer. The technologies introduced here are; 5-pen PC technology and E-ball PC technology. 5-pen PC technology is a new discovery in the field of pen computing. It uses five pen-like devices providing the functions of a CPU, a virtual keyboard, a projector a camera, and communication functions of a cellular phone. E-ball technology is sphere-shaped computer which includes all the traditional elements like mouse, keyboard, large screen display, DVD recorder etc. Size of e-ball is very small, having 6 in diameter sphere.

Keywords: Pen computing, virtual keyboard, CPU pen, e-ball, sphere shape, smallest PC
