Merin Kesiya, Rini Paul, Rosmin Paul, Sruthy Asokan, Hareesh M. J.

Abstract

An automatic meter reading system is a digital meter that measures the consumption of electrical energy and provides other additional information as compared to the traditional energy meter. This paper presents the development of a GSM based meter, which reduces the human effort in taking the readings and calculation of bill. This automatic meter reading system will take the reading automatically and these readings are sent to KSEB database through SMS and the calculation of bill is done at database. The calculated bill is sent from database to consumer through regular SMS. Payment can be done through an android application.
