Compression Helical Spring for Two Wheeler Suspension Systems: Effect of Meshing Method

The present paper studies the different meshing methods on the configuration of helical springs. Discussion on different meshing methods, number of elements and nodes generated by them have been studied and explained in detail. Parameters influencing the helical spring quality have also been explained. Effect of different material has also been studied to reduce the weight of the spring. Springs are to be designed for higher stress and small dimensions. Finite element modelling brings improvement to the suspension spring analysis. Proximity, curvature and only proximity are the best suitable meshing methods. Nodes for proximity and curvature, proximity decrease with the increment in relevance order. Meshing methods can vary the final results by a considerable amount.
