Abstract

Abstract

The web’s wonderful quantifiability and strength lead to half from the end-to-end nature of internet congestion management. End-to-end congestion management algorithms alone, however, are unable to stop the congestion collapse and unfairness created by applications that are unresponsive to network congestion. To address these maladies, I propose and investigate a unique congestion-avoidance mechanism referred to as Congestion Free Router (CFR). CFR entails the exchange of feedback between routers at the borders of a network so as to observe and prohibit unresponsive traffic flows before they enter the network, thereby preventing congestion among the network.
